Much needed weekend getaway

Matt and I had originally planned to go to Vegas back in February.  We planned the trip and booked everything when his basketball team was 5-6.  Low and behold, his team ended up winning every single game after that (sixteen.. yes, sixteen in a row) and made it to county and district playoffs.  This was a great thing for the team, but a bad thing for our Vegas Vacay.  The county championship just so happened to be the weekend we were scheduled to go away, so we had to cancel the hotel and postpone our plane tickets.  **Maybe some day I will include the picture of Matt in his attire from that game!  Gotta pay up when you lose a bet!

Our original plan was to book the same trip.  However, somewhere along the way our destination changed.  Our tickets had to be used by October 1st, so we booked our four-day San Francisco weekend the second week of September, right after our failed FET cycle.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute, right?  But, not much choice when you are in the middle of IVF and have no idea where you will be, and when.

Why San Francisco?  We really don't know.  Neither of us had ever been there and there were things we definitely wanted to see and do.  We needed this getaway more than anything right now, and it is a good thing we went when we did, because half of the places we visited are closed as of today with the government shutdown!

We really did have a great time and it was just what we needed!

As far as an update on our IVF journey.. there is not much to update about.  We will be doing a third cycle (second frozen embryo transfer) when things are what they need to be.  Until that time, we are just trying to enjoy ourselves and do things that are good for us.  We are exhausted, but ready to push forward.  We could not be more thankful for all of your love, prayers and support, and would be nothing but grateful if you would continue send your love, keep us in your prayers, and support us in any way possible.

Birthday Girl!

Sunday, September 29th was a big day at our house.  Sophie turned four!  We celebrated a few days before since we would be away for the weekend.  She enjoyed her "cake" and new toys!  

Sophie is our sweet girl.  I got her the day after Thanksgiving (almost four years ago!) when I was single.  That was one of the best decisions I ever made!  She traveled everywhere with me, and continues to travel everywhere with us to this day.. of course, Rooney now joins us, too!  She loves to play with Rooney, Lucy & Charley (my parent's dogs), but prefers to stay away from the dog park.  Any time another dog tries to play with her, she turns away and lays down.  Gotta love it!  She sleeps under our bed every single night.. and one of us usually has to "assist" her in the morning when it is time to get out.  (She has packed on a few lbs over the last few years!)  She is a runner and loves nothing more than to lay outside on the patio in the fall/spring and sprint through the snow in the winter.

Happy Fourth Birthday, sweet girl!  We love you!
